Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains how Richard Swain, trading as Dick’ll Do It / The Handyman Company NI, handles information through this website. Contact us at [email protected] or 07917 002277. Our business address is 1 Elmhurst, Steps Road, Magheralin, BT67 0QH.
Display preferences stored on your device
When you change the colour, dark mode, accessibility or seasonal-decoration setting, this website saves those choices in your browser’s local storage under dicklldoit.preferences.v1. Only your chosen colour and three on/off settings are saved. We do not store your name, contact details, enquiry text or a visitor identifier in these preferences.
Seasonal decorations use the date in your browser to choose a holiday theme. No date or device information is sent to us for this feature. Automatic holiday animations respect your device’s reduced-motion preference. A manually triggered holiday preview plays its animations. You can turn decorations off in Display options. These choices stay in this browser until you reset them or clear the website’s browser data. They are not sent to our website server and do not follow you to another browser or device. If browser storage is unavailable, the controls still work for the current page. We use this storage to remember the display settings you request.
Enquiries and contact details
The enquiry form uses the name, location and job description you enter to prepare a draft in your device’s text-messaging app. It does not submit the form to a website database or save its contents in local storage. The message is sent only if you choose to send it in that app. Email links open your email application.
If you contact us by phone, text or email, we receive the information you choose to share. We use it to respond to your enquiry, prepare estimates, arrange work and manage the customer relationship. This is generally necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, perform a contract, or manage our legitimate business interests. Your phone or email provider processes the communication under its own privacy terms.
Maps and third-party services
The coverage map uses an OpenStreetMap background stored with the website. It does not request your location or connect your browser to an external map-tile service. The Google map of Magheralin is an embedded third-party service. The Facebook and Google reviews links open those services under their own privacy policies. When it loads, your browser connects to Google, which may receive your IP address, browser information and other technical information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policies. We do not receive your Google account details.
See Google’s privacy policy. Opening Google Maps, using an email link or sending an SMS takes you to a service governed by that provider’s terms.
Hosting and technical information
Hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and error information to deliver and secure the site. We do not add advertising trackers or analytics tools to this website.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell information collected through this website. Enquiry information may be handled by the communication and service providers needed to respond and carry out work. Business correspondence and records are kept only as needed for the enquiry, service, applicable record-keeping obligations or handling disputes. Browser display preferences remain until you clear them; no fixed automatic expiry is set.
Your choices and rights
You can clear saved display preferences using the button above or your browser’s site-data controls. You may also contact us to ask about personal information we hold, request access or correction, or request deletion or restriction where applicable. Rights to object or receive a portable copy may also apply. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request.
If you have a concern, please contact us first. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the website’s information-handling features change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
